Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers

In the spring of 2013, a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker stopped long enough to refuel on some River Birch sap. Watch closely to see the sap ooze.

Goldfinches on Agastache

Great Blue Heron Fishing

Now imagine you live on less than half an acre and are surrounded by neighbors and trees. Then a Terradactyl (aka a Great Blue Heron) lands in your back yard. It’s an amazing thing to watch. No flying in this video – just fishing.

Fencing Flickers

We were in our back yard when an unfamiliar sound caught our attention. We spotted two beautiful Northern Flickers facing each other and waving their beaks, which were pointed upward.  See our October 2015  post for more about what’s going on.
